[🔍] I didn’t expect this to turn into anything

Hello and welcome to my experience design lens series, Reader 👋

Not theory.
Not frameworks.
But the real decisions underneath the work.

The parts most people don’t see.

Looking for a previous issue? They are all available to read on my website.

Today's a little different. No pattern reveal this time!

More behind the scenes.

When I started what I now call the Evidence Log…
it wasn’t meant to be anything special.
Definitely not something to sell!

I just wanted a simple way to not lose track of what was happening.

To feel like I was actually moving forward.

Because if I’m honest…
I was doing a lot.

But I couldn’t clearly see if any of it was working.

And that’s a frustrating place to be.

Because when you can’t see your own progress…
you start
questioning everything.

Should I keep going?
Should I change direction?
Am I wasting my time?

So I started capturing small pieces of evidence.

Nothing fancy.

Just:

“What actually happened today that moved something forward?”

After a few weeks…
something shifted.

Patterns showed up.

Some of them were reassuring.

Things I didn’t even realize were working.
Decisions I kept making that were actually helping me move forward.

But others were harder to look at.

Moments where I stayed too long in something that wasn’t moving.
Times where I went back and forth instead of deciding.
Situations where I thought I was making progress…
but was really just circling.

And the uncomfortable part?

None of this was new!

It had been there the whole time.

I just wasn’t seeing it clearly enough to do anything about it.

That’s the real cost.

Not lack of effort.
Not lack of ideas.

But spending weeks… sometimes months…
moving without knowing what’s actually moving.

And once you start seeing it?

You can’t really ignore it anymore.

Decisions get simpler.

Not easier.

But harder to avoid.

I didn’t build this thinking it would become anything.

Not a product.
Not something to share.

It was just me trying to solve something for myself.

But the more I used it…
the more I realized how many of us are in that same place.

Moving.
But not really seeing.

So I turned it into something you can use too.

Simple. Still evolving. But already doing the job.

I would really appreciate your help with this! It will make it so much easier for me to fix and improve everything that needs attention. Thank you!

I make printables and editable templates that refuse to sit quietly in a downloads folder. You can use them yourself… or rebrand and sell them as your own. Some spark creativity at home and create little screen-free moments. Others help creators turn simple ideas into products they can actually share with the world. And these days, I also help thoughtful creators spot the hidden friction between effort and results — because sometimes a small shift is all it takes to get things moving again!
